Each year various fundraisers are held on behalf of the Grand Haven Schools Foundation. These events engage our community in exciting and unique ways. Please make plans to attend events and support GHSF.

Art at the Yard | Cancelled for 2020

We are just two weeks away from what we thought would be Art at the Yard – Pandemic version, with having sold less than 10% of our 450 tickets that we have available for the evening.

This despite having done all our standard promotions, and then some. We’ve established a Facebook event and shared it widely, with very little traction (we typically have hundreds of “attending” and shares within days of posting the event).

To our disappointment, it looks like this may not be the best year to gather, despite efforts to make the event COVID-safe. It’s likely that we’re dealing with the convergence of a few things. People’s reluctance to be at indoor gatherings (even at 75 in a big space). The requirement to pick a time slot (most folks just meet up with their people there, this year the logistics are a bit more complicated and require advanced planning and commitment from individuals. Art at the Yard has always been a highly social event, and this year that looks very different.

The cost and the amount of work to pull this off means we really should feel confident it’s worth the effort and will be successful for both artists and patrons. Sadly this year we do not have that confidence, and have made the tough call to cancel the event.
Rest assured that your ticket donation will be going to the intended cause: Supporting our mission and students through this unprecedented time. We are grateful for your support and hope that we will see you at Art at the Yard 2021.
Grand Haven Schools Foundation and Lakeshore Visual Arts Collective are grateful for your ongoing support as we adapt to the challenges of the current environment.

The event was created by community artists to showcase their work and help support the Grand Haven Schools Foundation. Artwork of various forms, media, styles, and sizes will be displayed at Baker Lumber in Grand Haven. The artists will be present to discuss their pieces, and ten percent of the proceeds from art sales will be donated to GHSF to further our mission. This event is hosted in partnership with the  Lakeshore Visual Arts Collective.

Grand Haven High School Hall of Fame
The GHHS Hall of Fame will be held in November 2022. This triennial event honors the achievements of GHHS graduates and those who have served our school district. The program has become very meaningful to our community; residents, schools, and businesses all realize the importance of recognizing our graduates’ accomplishments and providing role models for generations of students to come.
